What You Will Need to get Started:
1. You can view further pages on our website for all relevant information including modem parameters, network diagrams and service coverage.
2. Minimum System Requirements:
a) 1.2m dish (at minimum);
b) PLL LNB (10.9 to 11.7 Ghz frequency range); (PLL is a must!)
c) 2W BUC minimum (but 4W is more efficient), model NJT5016F, NJT5017F, or NJT5025F. However, almost any BUC will work on our system as long as LO (Local Oscilator) is 13050MHZ;
d) 30 m of cables; and
e) Linkstar Viasat DVB-S2A OR iDirect Evolution RCST (modem).
When you have your equipment ready Fill out a pre-commissioning form!
3. Antenna Pointing:
For Linkstar S2A modems
Point to SES-4 Satellite – linear at 22.0°W
Use vertical receive
RF Frequency: 11472.4 MHz
(L-Band Frequency: 1472.4 MHz)
Polarization: Vertical
Transponder: WAV05
Symbol rate: 4200 ks
DVB-S2
You need to telnet into the Linkstar S2A RCST with a cross over cable using the default IP address, and enter the following commands exactly as you see them:(PLEASE NOTE THE NEW PARAMETER “DVB” THAT NEEDS TO BE CHECKED BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO POINT THE ANTENNA)
save -f 1472400
save -s 4200000
save -c 0×1029
save -pcr 0×365
save -pop 0x011e0001
save -o 1
save -t -30
save -lnbv 18
save -dvb 1 [NOTE: This will make your modem DVBS2]
hw
After you enter the command “hw”, the modem will reboot, and once it comes back on line, the sat “LED” should start blinking (providing you are locked on SES-4). At this point, give us a call at NOC (905)573-9449.
You can also download our TuningGuide software to assist in pointing your antenna for the best receive ESNo.
Using our additional software, ConfigCreator, modem configuration files can be generated for use with TuningGuide.
For iDirect Evolution
Point to SES-4 Satellite – linear at 22.0°W
Use vertical receive
RF Frequency: 11477.7 MHz
(L-Band Frequency: 1477.7 MHz)
Polarization: Vertical
Transponder: WAV05
DVB-S2
Check to make sure your modem is not locked by running the command
rmtlock status on the modem. If it is Engaged then you will need to have it unlocked by your old ISP, or if it is Permanent then it will not work on any other network than it is currently on. To join our network, make sure the command returns the phrase Remote lock is NOT engaged. This remote is free to join any network.
